Festival in Remembrance of the Speicher Martyrs

University of Basrah Organizes Festival in Remembrance of the Speicher Martyrs

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a festival to commemorate the tragedy of the Speicher martyrs, under the slogan: “The Speicher Martyrs… Banners of Immortality and a Memory That Will Never Die.”

The festival aimed to revive the memory of this painful tragedy, which is considered one of the most horrific crimes committed against humanity.

The event included a presentation on the history of Speicher Airbase, the origin of its name, its location, and a recounting of the incident in which soldiers and cadets were deceived and brutally executed in a manner that shames humanity.

Dr. Suzan Abdul Jabbar, head of the Media Unit at the college, stated that the Speicher massacre, in which thousands of innocent Iraqis were killed at the hands of ISIS terrorists, remains an open wound in the hearts of many and a memory that cannot be erased. She emphasized that during such difficult times, everyone must stand united against terrorism and violence, face challenges together, and work collectively toward building a safe and stable Iraq.
