PhD Dissertation at the University of Basrah Explores the Molecular Characterization of Avian Paramyxovirus
A PhD dissertation at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah, examined the molecular characterization of avian paramyxovirus type 1.
Conducted by the doctoral candidate Katrin Bandar Faraj, the study aimed to develop an effective peptide-based vaccine against highly virulent virus strains.
The dissertation included testing 250 birds showing clinical signs of infection, with molecular detection performed using RT-PCR.
The study recommended developing multi-epitope peptide vaccines, as well as isolating the virus and submitting it to the international GenBank database among globally circulating strains.
