university of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Oils and Fats

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled: “Oils and Fats… Which is Healthier for Humans?” as part of its scientific and awareness activities.

The workshop aimed to raise nutritional awareness, correct common misconceptions regarding the choice of cooking oils and fats, and educate attendees on the importance of distinguishing between different types of fats and their impact on human health.

The event included a scientific lecture delivered by:

•           Dr. Batool Hussein

•           Dr. Noores Abdul-Ilah

The lecturers explained the differences between oils and hydrogenated fats from physiological and nutritional perspectives, highlighting their association with obesity, and discussed approaches to dealing with fats that are difficult to eliminate.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the speakers recommended:

•           Returning to traditional healthy dietary habits once followed by ancestors.

•           Regular physical activity and exercise to increase movement and burn accumulated fats.

•           Adopting general dietary guidelines to help maintain a healthy body and well-being.
