University of Basrah Holds a Seminar on Using Rubrics in E-Learning
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled “Employing Rubrics in E-Learning Environments and Virtual Classrooms.”
The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of using rubrics to assess students’ performance in digital learning settings and distance education. It also emphasized their role in improving the quality of assessment and ensuring fairness and transparency in evaluating scientific reports.
The seminar featured contributions from Dr. Alaa Tareq Abdulwahid and lecturer Sara Salem Mohammed, who discussed mechanisms for designing rubrics within Google Classroom, as well as methods for applying them to evaluate learning outcomes. They also presented practical examples demonstrating the effectiveness of rubrics in developing students’ skills and enhancing their engagement.
The seminar concluded with several recommendations, including the need to generalize the use of rubrics across all electronic courses and to train faculty members on designing and effectively implementing them within modern educational plans.
