University of Basrah Holds Seminar for Students on the Dangers of Drugs

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized an awareness seminar on drug prevention, emphasizing that combating drugs is a societal responsibility that contributes to building a drug-free generation.

The seminar included a lecture presented by the instructors Suzan Abdul-Jabbar Abdulaziz and Asmaa Sami Madi, in which they explained the definition of drugs, their types, and the difference between drug use and addiction. They also discussed the health risks associated with drugs, methods of identifying users, and ways to avoid dealing with them to protect both individuals and society.

The lecturers highlighted that young people possess creative potential that requires proper investment. They stressed the importance of developing their skills, supporting them, and directing them toward beneficial activities that strengthen their awareness and self-protection.

The seminar concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which were the need for self-care, avoiding harmful behaviors, acquiring diverse personal skills, and the necessity of early detection of drug users and distributors to safeguard individual and community security.
