University of Basrah Hosts Festival Promoting Peaceful Coexistence
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah held a festival titled “No to Extremism, Yes to Coexistence and Development.”
The event sought to enhance awareness among participants about the concept of extremism, its various manifestations, and effective ways to confront and reject it. It also highlighted strategies for breaking free from rigid, intolerant ideologies and overcoming negative mindsets.
The festival featured an educational lecture delivered by instructors Jinan Abdulkhader and Bushra Faleh. Their presentation explored the definition and types of extremism, examined the reasons behind its rejection, and discussed the psychological and social factors that contribute to the adoption of extremist views.
The event concluded with a discussion emphasizing that extremism represents a significant intellectual challenge, often amplified by digital media platforms. The organizers stressed that awareness campaigns and sustained community outreach initiatives remain the most powerful tools to combat this phenomenon and safeguard future generations from its risks.
