University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on the Causes and Solutions of Suicide
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a workshop titled “Suicide: Causes and Treatments.”
The workshop aimed to highlight suicide as a serious psychological and social issue, explain its main causes, and introduce methods of prevention and treatment.
The workshop, delivered by lecturers Noor Katta Abbas and Iman Qasim Dawood, included a detailed explanation of the most important factors leading to suicide, such as psychological stress, mental disorders, social and economic problems, in addition to weak psychological support and lack of community awareness.
The workshop recommended intensifying awareness programs, strengthening psychological counseling services within educational institutions, activating the role of counseling units, and enhancing the role of the family in providing support and follow-up for cases requiring specialized psychological care.
