University of Basrah Introduces Collaborative Approaches to Diversify Clinical Training Sites for Veterinary Medicine Students
In a promising step aimed at enhancing both academic and practical education, the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah has launched an initiative to expand and diversify clinical training opportunities for its students and graduates by establishing new training sites that better align educational outcomes with the demands of the Iraqi labor market.
This initiative is part of the college's ongoing efforts to broaden practical training opportunities for fourth- and fifth-year students while fulfilling the requirements of the Iraqi National Programmatic Accreditation Standards for Colleges of Veterinary Medicine.
In this regard, the college administration announced the signing of two strategic memoranda of understanding, resulting in the official accreditation of two new training sites. Training Site No. 4 is located in Al-Qurnah District (Al-Sharsh area), while Training Site No. 5 is situated in Shatt Al-Arab District.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Jalal Yaseen Mustafa, stated that this achievement represents a fundamental step toward meeting higher education quality standards and strengthening the university's role in serving the community by fostering direct collaboration between the academic institution and the local community. He added that this initiative is intended to enhance the practical skills of students and graduates and prepare them effectively to meet the needs of the veterinary labor market in Basrah Governorate.
