University of Basrah Stretch the Veterinary Clinical Training Network to Meet Program Accreditation Standards
With the beginning of the new academic year, the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah has announced the establishment of a series of clinical and practical training programme assigned in different sites in the governorate. This initiative goal is to activate the training environment for students and diversified it, as well as broadening the scope of practical experience.
This step is planned to meet quality and program accreditation standards in Iraq by enabling students to handling directly with various animal species, field training based on the modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods, and providing comprehensive veterinary care.
The new training network programme will involve several locations, including university-affiliated-animal farms, the veterinary hospital, and a site in the Al-Qurna district to cover the northern part of the governorate. Additionally, an equestrian site in Shatt Al-Arab has been involved to increase students' skills in the equine medicine and surgery.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Jalal Yassin Mustafa, emphasized the commitment to further expanding these sites to provide the labour market with highly qualified veterinarians. He referred that this initiative constitutes important practical start for activities of the career rehabilitation and employment Unit, in addition to training graduated and under-graduated students with sharpening their scientific and practical skills in the veterinary field.
