University of Basrah Performs a Cesarean Section to Save a Goat During Labor

A medical team from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Teaching Veterinary Hospital, successfully performed a cesarean section on a female goat that suffered from dystocia due to narrowing of the birth canal and the large size of the twins.

The procedure was carried out under local anesthesia and in compliance with surgical aseptic techniques, resulting in the successful rescue of both the mother and her kids.

This initiative comes as part of the training and community service activities of the Teaching Veterinary Hospital, which aim to enhance students’ practical surgical skills and provide free veterinary services to the local community.
