Workshop on Polymerase Chain Reaction

University of Basrah Holds Workshop on Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a workshop titled “Polymerase Chain Reaction: Steps and Applications.”

The event aimed to train researchers and postgraduate students on the fundamental principles and practical applications of the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique, highlighting its crucial role in pathogen detection.

The workshop featured lectures by Dr. Rasha Munther and Dr. Hassan Mohammed, and was divided into two parts: a theoretical session covering the scientific basis of PCR and related methods, and a practical session that provided hands-on training in laboratory procedures. Participants amplified a gene using a PCR machine and analyzed the amplified product through electrophoresis.
