University of Basrah Hosts Lecture on Environmental Pollution and Public Health

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah held a scientific lecture titled “The Impact of Environmental Pollution on Public Health.”

The event aimed to enhance environmental awareness, shed light on the health risks associated with pollution, and emphasize the shared responsibility of supporting environmental protection efforts that contribute to safeguarding public health.

Delivered by Dr. Adel Yaqoub Al-Hanzal from the University of Sweden, the lecture reviewed major sources of environmental pollution in Iraq and globally particularly in industrial zones and oil-producing regions and explained their health impacts on both humans and animals.

The lecture also covered hazardous pollutants, how they spread, and their effects on vital body organs. In addition, it highlighted the role of academic health institutions in promoting environmental awareness and reducing pollution.
