The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basra discussed a research project by the graduate / master's student Wafaa Abdul Latif Bunyan, which included a study of the effect of glyceric acid on some physiological variables and histological changes of the adrenal gland in rats with adrenal insufficiency caused by glucocorticoids and uninfected rats.

The study included the use of 70 rats in two experiments, the first experiment for the purpose of inducing adrenal insufficiency, twenty female rats were divided into two groups, the control group, and the second group treated
The study aimed to investigate the effect of glyceric acid on adrenal insufficiency.

The study concluded that glyceric acid has improved effects against adrenal insufficiency caused by glucocorticoids in experimental animals in some physiological parameters.
