University of Basra Conducts Successful Surgery on Goat with Acute Mastitis
A group of summer training students from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basra, in collaboration with the Veterinary Hospital, successfully carried out a complex surgical procedure on a goat diagnosed with acute mastitis.
The goat had a previous history of mastitis that had been treated; however, the illness returned in a more severe form. Recently, the animal developed marked udder swelling along with other concerning clinical symptoms.
The veterinary team promptly decided to perform surgical intervention, removing the affected udder and providing comprehensive post-operative care. The goat’s condition has since stabilized, and she is now well on her way to a full recovery.
