MSc Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines a Comparison Between Follicular Fluid and Frankincense Extract

A master’s thesis at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah, investigated “The Effect of Bovine Follicular Fluid and Frankincense Extract on Achilles Tendon injury in Dogs.”
The thesis, submitted by the student Ahmed Faris Jaber, aimed to study the effect of frankincense extract and bovine follicular fluid, in combination with platelet-rich fibrin, on the healing of the Achilles tendon in dogs.

The study included clinical, histological, and biochemical examinations. The results revealed the superiority of frankincense extract in accelerating the early phase of healing, while bovine follicular fluid led to complete recovery after 60 days.

The thesis concluded that both treatments effectively contribute to tendon regeneration and repair, and it recommended exploring the possibility of combining the two in future studies.
